ADJUNCT FACULTY
English Language Part-time Instructors for the ENLUS (English Language for University Studies) “Liceo” Program
Needed for Fall 2008
Two instructors to teach two-month courses
September 29th to November 20th
MW 17:15-18:30 or TTh 17:15-18:30
Responsibilities: Each instructor will teach 2½ hours per week for eight weeks in the English Language for University Studies Liceo Program (ENLUS Liceo) directed at Italian high school students. The course’s aims are to begin to prepare students for the use of English in a university setting by working on the development of the following skills: note-taking, using library resources, participating in academic discussions, and giving in-class presentations. The instructor will also be asked to participate in liaison activities with Italian high school professors of English.
Qualifications: Post-graduate degree from an accredited institution in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), ESL, English, Applied Linguistics, or other related areas that qualify the applicant for the position. Preferred additional qualifications: personal skills and enthusiasm in working with young students. The stipend for the position is €1300-1400 for the 20-hour course, depending on level of qualification.

English Language Part-time Instructors for the ENLUS Program Needed for Fall 2008
Responsibilities: The instructor will teach specific content areas of JCU’s English Language for University Studies program, ENLUS I and ENLUS II for the Fall 2008 semester. The programs are designed to provide students with the English skills needed to successfully pursue a university career or a professional position requiring the use of English. The instructor will be asked to perform level testing, test correction and level evaluations, prepare class and exam schedules, monitor the students’ progress, and participate in curriculum and program development in coordination with the ENLUS Director.
Qualifications: post-graduate degree from an accredited institution in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), ESL, English, Applied Linguistics, or other related areas that qualify the applicant for the position; at least two years equivalent full-time experience teaching ESL, preferably at an institution of higher education. Additional qualifications: personal skills and enthusiasm in working with students, demonstrated knowledge and use of testing and measurement designed to assess student skills, demonstrated skills in facilitating success for students from a wide range of academic, socio-economic, cultural, national, and ethnic backgrounds.
