Professor Woodworth hails from Newfoundland, Canada, and along with Queen Elisabeth II he was present to welcome the replica Matthew after its transatlantic crossing for the Cabot 500 celebrations in 1997. He has since studied philosophy on both sides of the Atlantic, completing his Ph.D. at Stanford University in 2024. He specializes in ethics, moral psychology, and action theory, and he is adamant that we should reject any moral theory which implies that we can be morally blameworthy despite being fully rational. He is also interested in various ethical dimensions of speech, including the nature of open communication and what it is to take responsibility for what one says.
