Orientation Leadership Program

Each semester the Orientation and the Immigration offices select a group of mature and dedicated students to assist with orientation. Orientation Leaders will serve as peer-mentors for new students, who are making the transition to the University.

Orientation Leaders are full-time, undergraduate and graduate students who are responsible for welcoming and supporting all incoming students by leading a variety of sessions and activities during orientation week. 

Roles Include: 

  • Orientation Assistants: Guide new students before arrival through emails and video calls and during orientation week through check-in and peer-led activities.
  • Immigration Assistants: Help students navigate Italian immigration requirements.
  • Arrival Assistants: Support students during their first days in Rome. 

ORIENTATION LEADERSHIP PROGRAM GOALS

  • To assist incoming students get familiar with the campus and with the city of Rome;
  • To reinforce expectations, policies, and standards;
  • To encourage community building and engage all students in JCU;
  • To foster active involvement in Student and Academic life at JCU.

ARRIVAL ASSISTANTS

Application Requirements 

  • No GPA needed
  • Degree-seeking, full-time student, alumni​
  • Over 18 years old​
  • Good financial standing​
  • Good disciplinary standing

Application Process

  • Complete and submit the online application by the deadline.​
  • New Applicants will be required to attend an interview (while we appreciate every application received, please note that only short-listed applicants will be contacted).​
  • Student Leaders must be present and on time without exception for all scheduled training sessions, meetings and orientation days (all dates can be found on the application form).
  • Arrival Assistants work full days during move-in and limited hours according to the activities and needs of the Student Affairs Offices during the rest of the week

ORIENTATION ASSISTANTS AND IMMIGRATION ASSISTANTS

Application Requirements 

  • Degree-seeking, full-time student​
  • 2.5 GPA minimum​ (at the time of application)
  • Completed at least 1 semester at JCU at the time of application
  • Over 18 years old​
  • Should attend at least 2 semesters before graduating (if never worked for orientation in any capacity)​
  • Good financial standing​
  • Pre-registered for the following semester​
  • Good disciplinary standing
